Multi Form – Fluidity in Living Spaces, Milan

Milan Design Week has officially begun, bringing cutting-edge collections and artistically trendy presentations from the world’s greatest designers and artists: one of the most important programs held was a multidisciplinary exhibition entitled “Multi Form – Fluidity in Living Spaces” led by leading online retail company, Yoox.

“Multi Form” is a collective project in which five different design and art personalities interpreted the concept of “multiform” according to their own artistic and poetic sensitivity, with a temporary exhibition in the heart of the Milanese design district.

Located in the courtyard and internal spaces of via Tortona 14 and designed by Yoox, it was a kaleidoscopic event in which five different design and art talents reinterpreted the concept of “fluidity in living spaces” through their respective practices.

Featured works included objects by Gab Bois that used capitalist signs and symbols to mock a consumer-obsessed mainstream culture, a large-scale soft sculpture made from dyed cotton commissioned by Yoox called “Timeline”, as well as a changing sculpture shape called “Butterfly-Dog” that “reimagines the concept of fluid identity”.

The organization adds: “Through assemblage and irregular textures, the work depicts a dog enclosed in the body of a butterfly, playing with the idea of metamorphosis in the animal kingdom.”

Accompanying the “Multi Form, Fluidity in Living Spaces” exhibition was an additional installation called “Floating Room” which allowed visitors to interact with the work through its digital walls: “creating their own ‘Drop ‘, everyone can be part of the exhibition, making them protagonists in the first person.”

Without forgetting that the week’s program included a 3D printing workshop entitled “Mould-a-form” created in collaboration with SuperForma, which allowed students to create their own three-dimensional objects, DJ sets with European Vampire and Toy Tonics, as well as separate live discussions with Yoox ambassador Kristen De la Vallière and HypeArt’s Keith Estiler with Gab Bois.

The “Multi Form, Fluidity in Living Spaces” event saw the technical contribution of Dhs Event Solution for the management of audio, video and lighting system designed specifically for the event.
